Richard La Motte has worked in the film industry for more than 40 years. His career includes credits as Writer, Producer, Director, Technical Adviser, Storyboard Artist, and Production Designer.
His motion picture career began as a stock clerk in the Fox Studio Wardrobe Department. He moved on to Set Costumer for movies such as Batman, M.A.S.H., Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Little Big Man, Dillinger, and many others.
Mr. La Motte’s first assignment as a Costume Designer was for the epic period movie, The Wind and the Lion. Many others followed such as Rambo III, Crazy Horse, Geronimo, Tecumseh, and Gods and Generals. He has worked as technical adviser on Last of the Mohicans, Pacific, and Pearl Harbor and is an industry-recognized expert on ethnic, period, and military costumes.
Mr. La Motte will present a session at the 2012 Black Hills Film Festival based on his latest book, “Costume Design 101 – The Business in China and Art of Creating Costumes for Film & Television”.
